No more monkey business for zoo visitors
A chimpanzee that posed for photographs with tourists at a zoo in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, had to be laid off earlier this week.
Although she was highly rated at her job, her role violates China's law on the protection of wildlife, forestry authorities said.
Chimps must be kept in a fixed place with security measures guaranteed in case of possible attacks on humans, they said.

Motorcycle thief loses out in race with owner
A teacher was so good at running that he caught up with a thief who had ridden away on his motorbike.
The man, who works at a middle school in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, apprehended the thief after chasing him for about 500 metres.
Questioned by police later, the thief said that he would not have stolen the motorcycle if he had known that its owner could run so fast.

Police swoop on lecherous landlord
A man was arrested by Beijing police for spying on a woman he had rented a room to in his house.
The tenant found a tiny camera above the door of her room last week by accident and then reported the matter to police.
Checking the room, police found the camera was linked to a monitor placed in the man's own bedroom.

Authorities bid to stub out filthy habit
Smoking is expected to be fully prohibited in all public places and office buildings in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province, within the next five years.
Although it might be a difficult job, authorities have vowed to press ahead with preparations in the coming months.
It will be the first city to carry out such a ban in Shanxi Province if it is successful.
